TAP
supports the exchange of
professional expertise among
New York State schools, cultural
organizations, teaching artists
and consultants to promote
the continued growth and
improvement of long-term,
in-depth partnerships centered
on teaching and learning
in and through the arts to
benefit pre-K through 12th
grade children. The
New York State Council on
the Arts’ (NYSCA) Empire
State Partnerships (ESP)
Arts in Education program
is the model by which we
measure success.
Deadlines for
TAP in the coming academic
year 2008-09 will be:
September 15, November
17, January 15, March 16, May
18 and July
1.
Award
letters are sent within 4 weeks
after each deadline, subject
to availability of funds. Awards
are available for up to $3,000.
Funding can
be requested for technical assistance
to strengthen your arts-in-education
partnerships in the following
categories:
Partnership Planning and
Collaboration
Arts-Integrated Curriculum Design
Program Evaluation and Student Assessment
Professional Development and Capacity Building
Please
note that there is
no longer a separate application
for funding to attend the CommonGround
conference. If you want to
apply for a TAP Scholarship
for CommonGround, please submit
your application for inclusion
in the January 15 deadline.
Individuals,
NYS schools, school districts,
and non-profit cultural organizations
are eligible to apply. NYS
teaching artists who have been
NYS residents for one year
previous to the application
deadline and are not matriculated
in a degree granting program
are also eligible to apply.
TAP
applications should address relevant
issues specific to integrating
arts into education programs
that benefit children. Preference
will be given to applicants that
provide matching support for
project costs.
TAP will NOT support:
- staff positions or projects
that appear to provide for
staff positions;
- residency projects that involve
direct contact between teaching
artists and children;
- the purchase of equipment or
the production expenses for marketing
materials;
- more than one TAP award per
applicant per year.
